Fire Chief Christopher Gleason
Chris joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in July 2nd 2003. He is our departments Fire Chief. He assumes ultimate responsibility for the health and welfare of all department members. In his spare time he likes to go camping.
Assistant Chief Brent Aukerman
Brent Aukerman joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in March 3rd 2011. He has been on the Department before. He has held the position and rank of Lieutenant, Training Supervisor, Captain and now Assistant Chief.
Assistant Chief Chris Burton
Chris Burton joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in October 2004. Chris Burton is the Assistant Chief and his responsibilites include daily upkeep and maintenace of the fire department building and emergency vehicles and grounds and is the Operations Chief of the Department. His certificates include FEMA ICS 100, ICS 00200, IS 00700, IS 00870. Also completed the American Heart Association Core Instructor Course. He is also a certified EMT. He attended South Dakota State Fire School in 2010 for Fire Officer Training. He has a certificate of Training for L-180 Human Factors on the Fireline, S130 Firefighter Training, S190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior, Salvage & Overhaul/Use of Hand Tools, Emergency Vehicle Operations Course. While serving in the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department he has had the position of Lieutenant of the Rescue Fleet and the Brush Fleet and Captain.
Captain 1 Ron Gonzales
Ron joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department October 5th 2011. He has been on the department previously. Ron has certificates pertaining to the Fire Department. They are ICS 100 and 200.
Captain 2 Ty Wilson
Ty joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in April 2010. He previously was on the Department March 2005 to April 2009. He is Captain of the Tender Fleet. He is a Paramedic. He is also Certified Firefighter with the state of South Dakota.
Lieutenant Erin Wilson
Erin joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in May 2010. She is a certified EMT, Her certificates include S130, S190, ICS 100, 200 and 700. She is a Lieutenant. Her responsibilities include making sure all medical supplies are stocked and to make sure trucks are stocked. In her spare time she spends time with her kids.
Lieutenant Jason Fleming
Jason Fleming joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department August 3rd 2011. Jason is one of our Lieutenants. He is one of our newest member. He is married has 3 children and is in the military.
Lieutenant Joy Thayer
Joy Thayer joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in November of 2005. While in the Fire Department she has held the position and rank of Lieutenant of the Rescue Fleet, Medical Supervisor, Crew Chief of the Tender Fleet and Training Supervisor. She enjoys spending time with her family.
Medical Supervisor Theresa Mellen
Theresa joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in May 2004. She was a First Responder but then moved up to EMT. She was previously Crew Chief for the Rescue Fleet and is now our Medical Supervisor. In her spare time she likes to read listen to country and oldies.
Training Supervisor Randy Quest
Randy Quest joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in May 2010. He then rejoined the fire department December 2010. He has certificates pertaining to the fire department they include Wildland S130 and S190 and Pet CPR and CPR certified. Randy enjoys watching the Broncos and is the head Flagman for the Badland Mini Sprint series. Randy is also a native to Box Elder Douglas Class of 2005. Randy is the department jester and enjoys making people laugh.
Program Developer Earl Sutliff
Earl Sutliff joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department on September 2nd 2009. He is the departments Program Developer his duties include going to local business and set up pre fire planning.
Firefighter Bryan Dodson
Bryan Dodson joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department September 7th 2011. He is Crew Chief of Brush 3. He makes sure his truck is in running condition and makes sure everything is in place. He enjoys hunting and fishing and is in the Air Force.
Firefighter William Dunham
Will Dunham joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in January 6th 2010. He is Crew Chief of Brush 1. His certificates pertaining to the Fire Department include ICS 100, 200 and 700. Will helps out with the SCBA bottle program.
Firefighter Paul Hix
Paul Hix joined February 2nd 2011. Paul Hix attended Fire School 2011. He is Crew Chief of Tender 3. His certificates include Essentials of Firefighter and Firefighter Essentials. Paul enjoys making model cars in his spare time.
Firefighter Scott Milliken
Scott Milliken joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in October 6th 2010. Scott was a Lieutenant of Engines. He is now Crew Chief of Utility 1. Scott has Certificates pertaining to Wildland S130 and S190. He also has ICS 200 and ICS 700. He is currently taking the EMT class that Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department is hosting. He is recently engaged Brooke Davis. Scott enjoys hanging out with friends and family and watching t.v.
Firefighter Aaron Rozett
Aaron joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire department May 4th 2011. He is Crew Chief of Engine 1. Aaron attended State Fire School 2011. His certificates include Wildland S130 and S190, A.A. Fire Technology, USAF Fire System school. Aaron is a plumber in the Air Force.
Firefighter Taylor Bowling
Taylor Bowling joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department on September 7th 2011. He is joint Crew Chief of Engine 1 along with Aaron Rozett. He enjoys long walks on the beach and hunting with friends. He is HVAC Journeyman in the USAF.
Firefighter Adam Kuenkel
Adam joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department June 2011. He is crew chief of Engine 5. He is Crew Chief of Engine 5. He is active duty Air Force and enjoys playing and coaching sports.
Firefighter Michael White (Whitey)
Michael White joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in March 2011. Mike was a firefighter at the Ashaway Fire Department in Rhode Island. He attended State Fire School 2011. He works for Bear Mountain Hand Crew/South Dakota Wildland Firefighter. Duties are to maintain, and keep the website up to date.
Firefighter Nick Walton (John Boy)
Nick Walton nicknamed JohnBoy joined March 2011. He holds Wildland certificates S130 and S190. He is currently taking the EMT class the Box Elder VFD is hosting. He is Crew Chief of Brush 2. His responsibilites include to maintain the Brush truck and to ensure everything is operable and restocked and cleaned after a fire. Johnboy is HVAC Journeyman in the USAF. He enoys hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, and working on cars.

Alex joined the Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department in May 2011. He is Crew Chief of Support 7. In his spare time he likes to listen to music, hang with friends and play video games. He enjoys doing what he does here at the department.
